Why We Started Northern Flight Company

Northern Flight Company is a small collective of experienced, independent instructors committed to training pilots the right way. We’re built on shared values, not corporate structure. Each instructor runs their own operation, but we work together under a common standard: clear instruction, disciplined flying, and a personal, intentional approach to training.

We opened at Anoka County Airport in Minnesota, a controlled but approachable Class D field nestled under busy Minneapolis airspace. It’s the kind of place that sharpens your awareness and hones your instincts—a perfect environment to train serious pilots without overwhelming new ones. From day one, we’ve kept things simple but deliberate. We use classic aircraft with analog gauges that demand attention and reward precision. Our approach is less about bells and whistles, more about feel, decision-making, and true airmanship.

Northern Flight Company exists to train pilots the right way—carefully, personally, and with high standards. We currently offer Private, Instrument, and Commercial training under Part 61, and we do it with a curriculum built on structure, mentorship, and mutual accountability. Students aren’t just passing tests—they’re learning to fly well, to think clearly under pressure, and to carry themselves with the discipline that aviation demands.
